Skoda Roomster

Skoda’s Roomster was previewed by a concept edition at the 2003 Frankfurt show, with the production version making its debut in Geneva three years later.

Combining a voluminous MPV rear with a more car-like front end, and with a design that emphasised the split, the Roomster was an smooth and original take on practical predecessors like the Matra Rancho.

At the time Skoda design was led by Thomas Ingenlath, now chief design officer at Volvo Cars (and CEO of spin-off Polestar). The Roomster’s exterior theme was the work of Peter Wouda, currently design director at VW Group’s Future Centre Europe. Wouda created all of these lovely pen and marker sketches.
