Mini Superleggera Vision

At the 2014 Villa d’Este concours event, on the shores of Lake Como, Mini revealed its slinky Vision Superleggera concept. The design transcribed familiar Mini cues (including overuse of the criss-cross Union Jack motif) into a low-slung speedster format.

Much more elegant than the chopped-up hatchback of the Mini Roadster, though still suitably stubby given its Mini roots, the Vision Superleggera boasted a hand-beaten aluminium body fashioned by coachbuilder Touring Superleggera – hence the name.

These lively development sketches are the work of Anders Warming, at the time chief designer at Mini (now at Borgward), and Louis de Fabribeckers, head of design at Touring Superleggera.
